Additions:
Rockbox is a free replacement firmware for digital music players.
It has got MANY nice features and the content managed is folder/file-based (plus database if you wish to).
I changed several Ipod Video to Rockbox and everyone was happy with it. Give it a try!

Deletions:
syncing to Apple devices is easy. Use iTunes! OK... since you use ""foobar2000"" and found that page you know that there is better software to maintain your audio collection.
But sorry, there is NO direct native/support for Apple devices!
I use** Rockbox media player** on my Ipod Video 60GB because I like the hardware but I do not like iTunes.
